Just as a car needs fuel to run, our spiritual lives need constant refueling. We may start our day feeling energized and motivated, but as the day progresses, our spiritual energy can wane.
The Importance of Regular Refueling
Imagine buying a brand-new car and forgetting to fill it with gas. Soon, it would sputter and eventually stop working. Similarly, we can experience spiritual burnout if we neglect to seek God daily.
The Bible encourages us to seek God’s filling regularly. In Acts 13:52, we read that the believers were “filled with the Holy Spirit.” This initial filling is essential, but it’s not enough. We need continual refilling to maintain our spiritual vitality.
The Power of the Holy Spirit
The apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of being filled with the Holy Spirit in Romans 15:13. He writes, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
