A Local Artist Paints Life into the Heart of Acadiana
Downtown New Iberia is experiencing a burst of color and inspiration, thanks to local muralist Hannah Gumbo. Known for her bold, joy-filled artwork that celebrates Louisiana culture, Gumbo’s latest project on the wall of Southern Linen Company along French Street is bringing new life to the community. The mural, which reads “Beauty is All Around Us”, captures Louisiana’s lush wildlife and vibrant spirit—reminding all who pass by of the wonder woven into their everyday surroundings.
A Biblical Reflection: Seeing God in Creation
Scripture reminds us that God reveals His beauty through creation. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands” (Psalm 19:1). Gumbo’s mural is a visual echo of that truth, inviting us to pause and reflect. Like the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1:20, God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—can be clearly seen through what He has made.
