Lafayette Parish Schools Announce 2025-2026 Holiday Calendar

Planning Ahead for the School Year
LAFAYETTE, LA – With the 2025-2026 school year well underway, Lafayette Parish parents and students are eager to know when breaks and holidays will occur. From Fall Break to Easter, the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) has released a full holiday calendar to help families plan ahead. As Proverbs 21:5 reminds us, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” Thoughtful planning ensures families can balance work, school, and faith-filled family time.

Key Holidays and Breaks for Students
The new school calendar includes several key dates. Students will enjoy Fall Break on October 13-14, 2025, and a full week off for Thanksgiving starting November 24. Christmas break begins December 22 and continues through January 5, with classes resuming January 6, 2026. Students will also observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19 and Mardi Gras break from February 16-20. Finally, Easter/Spring Break will take place April 3-10, with the last day of school set for May 21, 2026. Psalm 127:3 reminds us that “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.” These holidays allow families to spend meaningful time together in celebration and rest.

Supporting Teachers and Students
In addition to student breaks, the calendar also includes Teacher In-Service days and conference days, emphasizing the importance of preparation and guidance in education. Ephesians 6:4 encourages, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” These designated days support teachers in guiding students both academically and spiritually.

Prayer for Families and Schools
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of education and the blessings of children and families. Guide the students, teachers, and staff of Lafayette Parish Schools through this year. Grant rest and joy during holidays, wisdom in learning, and strength in service. May Your love fill each classroom, home, and heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
