A Community Gathers for a Cause
LAFAYETTE, La. — On September 19, the Wilderness Gun Club will host a skeet shoot fundraiser to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. This event invites the public to join together in both sport and service, raising critical funds for ongoing research and treatment. Just as Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.” When communities unite for a purpose greater than themselves, lives are changed.
Fighting for Breath and Life
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system, making it difficult for many to breathe and thrive. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure and helping those impacted live full, meaningful lives. Their work has already led to multiple FDA-approved therapies, a testament to perseverance and God’s provision. As Psalm 41:1 declares, “Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him.”
A Call to Participate
Teams of four will take part in the skeet shooting courses, testing their skills in aim and accuracy while supporting a noble mission. Organizers encourage participants to pre-register by emailing cguilbeau@cff.org. It is not only a day of fellowship and fun, but also a day to put faith into action—serving as James 2:17 reminds us, “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
Prayer for the Community
Heavenly Father, we lift up all those impacted by cystic fibrosis. We ask for Your healing hand upon them, strength for their families, and wisdom for the researchers seeking a cure. Bless this event, Lord, and may it inspire generosity, unity, and compassion throughout Lafayette and beyond. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
