Baking Through the Storm with Faith and Community

Crowley Bakery Stands Strong Despite Inflation and Setbacks

CROWLEY, LA — In the heart of Crowley, nestled between chain stores and fast-food restaurants, Neesie’s Sweet Dough Pies has become more than just a bakery. For 15 years, this family-run shop has been a place of comfort, resilience, and faith, offering not only homemade pies but also a testimony of perseverance through trials.

Faith Over Fear

Owner Denise Guillory shared how her family has relied on both discipline and prayer to keep their doors open in the face of rising costs. “We have a budget, and this is the good thing about closing at 2 PM because it keeps us with a balance,” Guillory said. “I don’t worry about it. We just normally just pray and go by faith.”

Her words echo the truth of 2 Corinthians 5:7 — “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Rising from the Ashes

The bakery has faced hardships beyond inflation. Years ago, a devastating fire threatened to end their journey. Equipment costs soared, and reopening seemed impossible. “My husband has a much greater faith in that area than I did,” Guillory admitted. “But we had to keep on going because the community really wanted us here.”

Like Isaiah 61:3 reminds us, God gives “beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” Neesie’s has embodied that promise, turning tragedy into testimony.

Community Sweetness

Over the years, Neesie’s has become a symbol of fellowship and endurance. More than a shop, it is a gathering place where love is baked into every pie. “I’m so grateful and appreciative that you guys still come to Neesie’s,” Guillory said. “And I will continue to pour my love and support and give you all that you’re looking for here at Neesie’s Sweet Dough Pies.”

A Prayer for Strength and Blessing

Heavenly Father, we thank You for sustaining Neesie’s Sweet Dough Pies and the Guillory family through storms of fire, inflation, and uncertainty. We ask that You continue to bless their work, provide for their needs, and use their story to inspire all who face trials. May their testimony remind us that with faith, perseverance, and community, we can endure all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). Amen.
