Be Still and Trust

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

This powerful promise was spoken to the Israelites as they stood trapped—Pharaoh’s army behind them and the Red Sea before them. Fear must have been overwhelming. Yet, Moses delivered this calming word from God: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Stillness in the face of chaos isn’t weakness—it’s trust. God wasn’t asking them to come up with a plan or fix the situation. He was calling them to stop striving and start believing. The same is true for us today. In battles we can’t control, when we’re exhausted from trying to fix everything ourselves, God reminds us: I will fight for you.

Stillness doesn’t mean inaction; it means refusing to panic. It means trusting that God sees, knows, and is already working on our behalf. He doesn’t ask us to figure it all out—only to be still and watch His power unfold.

Today, pause. Whatever you’re up against, give it to God. Let Him lead the battle while you rest in His promise.

Prayer:

Lord, in the middle of my fears and struggles, help me to be still. Teach me to trust that You are fighting for me. I surrender it all to You. Amen.
