Faith in Bloom: Moncus Park Breaks Ground on the Kergan Meditation Garden

A Sanctuary of Peace in the Heart of Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. — In a season where the world often feels hurried and distracted, Moncus Park has taken a bold step toward restoring stillness and spiritual renewal. On October 6, the park broke ground on the Kergan Meditation Garden, a space designed to inspire peace, reflection, and connection with God through the beauty of His creation. The garden, made possible by the generous gift of Ted, Ann, and Luc Kergan, will feature fragrant flowers, vibrant foliage, and serene walking paths — a testament to how faith and nature intertwine to heal the soul.

“He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:2–3

A Vision Rooted in Faith and Reflection
Ann Kergan shared the family’s heart for the project: “A spiritual place to go, to be… out in nature. It’s what we all need.” Her words echo God’s invitation for rest and renewal found in Matthew 11:28, where Jesus says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” The Kergan Meditation Garden will provide a haven for prayer, quiet reflection, and community connection, fostering moments where visitors can encounter the peace of God amid creation’s beauty.

Cultivating Community Through God’s Creation
Moncus Park Executive Director JP MacFadyen called the project “a testament to the Kergan family’s generosity and belief in the power of nature to transform lives.” Once completed in spring 2026, the garden will host guided meditations, wellness classes, and gatherings that nurture body, mind, and spirit. As Isaiah 32:18 reminds us, “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”

A Prayer for Renewal and Peace
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the vision behind the Kergan Meditation Garden. May it become a sanctuary where hearts are quieted, minds are renewed, and souls are drawn closer to You. Bless all who visit with peace, reflection, and the joy of Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
