Mama’s Fried Chicken Expands to New Iberia — A Testament to Faith, Family, and Community
Rooted in Family and Faith
A beloved Acadiana tradition is growing. Mama’s Fried Chicken, a family-owned staple since 1977, has announced plans to expand to New Iberia by early 2026. For decades, this Opelousas-based restaurant has served more than just delicious Southern meals—it has shared warmth, faith, and fellowship. As Co-owner Ryan LaGrange shared, “We are committed to bringing Mama’s Southern hospitality to more of Acadiana.”
Just as Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans,” the LaGrange family’s journey reflects faith in action—trusting God’s timing and guidance as they extend their ministry of hospitality to a new community.
A Legacy of Love and Service
Since its founding, Mama’s Fried Chicken has been guided by the hands and heart of family. Siblings Ryan LaGrange and Kristin Cooley continue the vision their mother began nearly 50 years ago, honoring her legacy of love, service, and community. “Family is at the heart of our business,” said Cooley. “Our mother showed us the importance of building strong relationships with the community and those in it.”
Their story mirrors the spirit of Galatians 5:13: “Serve one another humbly in love.” Through each plate served and every warm smile, Mama’s Fried Chicken reminds us that faith and food can nourish both body and soul.
A Blessing for New Iberia
As the new location opens at 101 E. Admiral Doyle Drive, residents of New Iberia eagerly await the same flavor and fellowship that have long defined Mama’s. Their expansion is more than business growth—it’s a testament to how God blesses those who sow seeds of kindness and gratitude.
Community Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for blessing the LaGrange family and the community of Acadiana. May this new chapter in New Iberia bring joy, connection, and Your steadfast love. Let every act of service glorify You and strengthen the bonds of community. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
