Dr. Steve:
Welcome back to the CAST NEWS podcast. I’m Dr. Steve and the podcast title for today is “Grace—True As Ever”. Today we’re talking about a powerful truth found in Romans 8:28 — that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
Carol, that’s a verse many people hold onto… but it can be hard to believe when life gets painful.
Carol:
It really can. It’s easy to say when things are going well. But when life breaks your heart, that verse can feel almost impossible to understand.
Dr. Steve:
That’s true. I think about a story of someone who grew up in a very broken home — an alcoholic environment, multiple divorces, instability everywhere. By all odds, the expectation was that the cycle would continue.
But at seventeen years old, everything changed. He gave his life to Christ.
And instead of repeating the past, God rewrote his future. He built a strong marriage, a family, and a life that stood as a testimony of grace. It was the kind of story where you could almost say, “And they lived happily ever after.”
Carol:
That’s such a beautiful picture of redemption.
Dr. Steve:
It is. And that story was even shared publicly — a testimony of how God can bring good out of broken beginnings.
But then… something unthinkable happened.
His thirty-three-year-old son was suddenly killed in a tragic car accident.
Everything changed in a moment.
And suddenly the question became very real — Is God still working all things for good… even now?
Carol:
That’s the kind of pain that shakes your faith to the core.
Dr. Steve:
Yes. That kind of loss forces you to wrestle with what you truly believe. Because Romans 8:28 doesn’t say that everything that happens is good. It says God can bring good out of everything that happens.
There’s a difference.
Even in the deepest grief, even in the chapter of life you would never choose, God’s grace does not disappear. His faithfulness does not change.
Carol:
So even when we don’t understand… God is still working.
Dr. Steve:
Exactly. We may not see the outcome immediately. We may not understand it in this life. But God is still weaving a greater story — one that ultimately brings purpose, healing, and glory to Him.
Grace is not only present in the good seasons.
Grace is true… even in the hardest moments.
Carol:
That’s a powerful reminder for anyone walking through loss right now.
Dr. Steve:
It is. If you’re listening today and you’re hurting, know this — your pain is real, but so is God’s presence.
And even in the middle of heartbreak, His promise still stands.
He is working.
He is faithful.
And His grace… is still true.
Carol:
Amen.
Dr. Steve:
Thanks for joining us today. Hold on to hope — even when it’s hard to see.
