Growing with Purpose: Infrastructure Investments Reflect Care for Future Generations

Broussard and Youngsville Invest Millions in Infrastructure While Building for the Future

Residents of southeastern Lafayette Parish will continue seeing roadwork over the next year as Broussard and Youngsville move forward with major infrastructure investments designed to improve traffic flow, expand utility services, and prepare for continued growth.

Faith and Forward Planning for a Growing Community

As southeastern Lafayette Parish continues to experience rapid development, local leaders are investing millions of dollars to improve roads, utilities, and public infrastructure. Officials in both Broussard and Youngsville have approved ambitious capital improvement budgets for the 2026-27 fiscal year, signaling a long-term commitment to meeting the needs of expanding neighborhoods and businesses.

For many residents, the construction may bring temporary inconveniences, but leaders believe the projects will create safer roads, stronger infrastructure, and greater opportunities for future generations.

The Bible reminds believers in Proverbs 24:3-4, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” Careful planning and responsible stewardship reflect principles that encourage communities to build with wisdom and vision.

Major Investments in Broussard

Broussard has approved a capital outlay budget totaling approximately $23.7 million, nearly doubling the amount invested in public works compared to the previous fiscal year. Nearly half of the funding will come through state and federal grants, easing the financial burden on local taxpayers while allowing critical projects to move forward.

Among the largest investments are continued improvements to the city’s water infrastructure, including upgrades to water wells near Garber Road and Albertsons Parkway. City officials say these improvements are essential as Broussard continues to welcome new families and businesses.

Additional funding will support the widening of Highway 89 near Ambassador Caffery Parkway, a project designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic safety.

Scripture teaches in Luke 14:28, “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?” Responsible budgeting and thoughtful planning remain important principles for both public officials and communities.

Youngsville Continues Long-Term Road Improvements

Youngsville is also making significant investments through its own capital improvement plan, allocating more than $12 million toward infrastructure projects, with substantial assistance from state and federal funding.

A major focus remains the ongoing widening of Highway 89. Following the successful completion of the Fortune Road roundabout earlier this year, Phase Two of the project is now underway. The long-term goal is expanding Highway 89 into four lanes extending toward Highway 92, improving traffic flow throughout one of the parish’s fastest-growing areas.

Construction is also expected to begin on a new roundabout at the intersection of Larriviere Road and Young Street. Because the intersection lies within both city limits, Youngsville and Broussard will share construction costs through a cooperative partnership.

Working Together for the Common Good

Local officials describe these projects as examples of cooperation between neighboring communities, state agencies, and federal partners. Their shared commitment demonstrates how collaboration can benefit entire regions rather than individual municipalities alone.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” When communities work together with unity and purpose, they can accomplish goals that strengthen the lives of everyone they serve.

While road construction may require patience over the coming months, many residents recognize that today’s investments are preparing the region for tomorrow’s opportunities.

Looking Ahead with Hope

As construction continues throughout southeastern Lafayette Parish, residents are encouraged to remain patient while crews complete projects designed to improve daily travel, expand essential services, and support future growth. These improvements represent more than roads and utilities—they reflect a community investing in its future while seeking to provide safe, reliable infrastructure for generations to come.

As Colossians 3:23 teaches, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” Whether through public service, construction, engineering, or community support, every effort contributes to building stronger neighborhoods where families can flourish.

Prayer for the Community

Heavenly Father, we pray for the residents, workers, engineers, contractors, and public officials involved in these important infrastructure projects. Grant wisdom to those making decisions, protect every construction worker on the job, and keep motorists safe throughout the months of road improvements ahead. Bless the communities of Broussard and Youngsville as they continue to grow, and help these investments serve families, businesses, and future generations. May unity, patience, and responsible stewardship guide every step of the work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
