LAFAYETTE, La. — Black Bayou Energy Hub is making a significant investment in Louisiana’s future with plans to expand its Lafayette headquarters and establish major operations in Cameron Parish. The $1.6 billion project is expected to create 23 new jobs while strengthening the state’s growing energy infrastructure network.
Company leaders say the expansion reflects confidence in Louisiana’s business climate and its role as a national leader in energy production. Black Bayou Energy Hub CEO Tad Lalande expressed gratitude for the support received from state officials and investors, noting that the project will help create jobs, support manufacturing investment, and encourage long-term economic growth throughout the region.
For many in Acadiana and Southwest Louisiana, the announcement represents more than economic development. It highlights the value of stewardship and responsible growth. Supporting Growth Through Strategic Partnerships
To help support the project, the State of Louisiana has offered Black Bayou Energy Hub a package of incentives that includes workforce development assistance through LED FastStart and $1 million for infrastructure improvements through the Economic Development Award Program. The company is also expected to participate in additional state programs designed to encourage job creation and industrial investment.
Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan Bourgeois noted that billions of dollars in liquefied natural gas projects have been announced across the state in recent years, creating demand for supporting infrastructure. The Black Bayou project is expected to help meet that need by expanding Louisiana’s natural gas capabilities while positioning the state for future opportunities.

One Acadiana President and CEO Troy Wayman described the investment as evidence of the region’s strength as a place where businesses can establish themselves, expand operations, and make a lasting impact. Lafayette Economic Development Authority President and CEO Mandi Mitchell also celebrated the announcement, calling it a win for both Lafayette and Southwest Louisiana.

New Infrastructure Planned for Cameron Parish
In Cameron Parish, Black Bayou Energy Hub plans to construct natural gas infrastructure centered on the Black Bayou salt dome. The facility will provide storage, transportation, balancing, and delivery services for LNG exporters, utilities, power generators, and pipeline operators throughout the Gulf Coast.
Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance President and CEO Scott Walker said the investment reinforces the region’s vital role in Louisiana’s economy and is expected to support continued growth and infrastructure development for years to come.
