Local faith leaders, who have long played a vital role in fostering peace and understanding in Lafayette, responded with calls for prayer and reflection.
A Prayer for Unity and Direction
Almighty God, we lift up Chief Estorge in prayer. We thank you for her service to our community and her dedication to keeping our streets safe. Guide her as she transitions to a new role within the department.
We also pray for the national search for a new police chief. Grant wisdom to the selection committee as they seek a leader who is fair, just, and committed to protecting all residents of Lafayette.
May the new chief have a servant’s heart and a passion for building trust and positive relationships within the community.
In Your holy name, we pray. Amen
Looking Forward with Faith and Action
Many residents shared their hope that the national search will yield a strong and capable leader who can bring much-needed stability and positive change to the police department. Several community organizations are planning events aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration between residents and law enforcement.
While Lafayette faces a period of uncertainty, the community’s unwavering faith and commitment to positive change offer a glimmer of hope. Through prayerful reflection and collaborative action, Lafayette residents are determined to create a future where the police department and the citizens they serve work together to build a safer and more just city.
