Bridge Repairs Announced for W. Congress Street

Lafayette, LA – The Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has announced that the W. Congress Street Bridge, located in the 4800 block of W. Congress Street, approximately 0.2 miles west of Rue du Belier, will undergo essential repairs and will be closed to all traffic starting June 12, 2024.

Expected Duration and Community Impact

The bridge closure is expected to last approximately 2.5 months. During this time, detour routes will be clearly marked to help drivers navigate around the construction area. Local access will be maintained to ensure residents and businesses experience minimal disruption.

Detour Routes for Safe Travel

To ensure safe and efficient travel during the bridge repairs, the following detour routes have been established:

• Eastbound traffic on W. Congress Street will be rerouted via Le Violin Road to Dulles Drive and then to Rue Du Belier.
• Westbound traffic on W. Congress Street will be rerouted via Rue Du Belier to Dulles Drive and then to Le Violin Road.
