Gratitude That Shouts Back
Luke 17 tells the story of ten men with leprosy who cried out to Jesus for healing. All were healed, but only one returned to give thanks—falling at Jesus’ feet and shouting praises. The original Greek uses words that resemble our term “megaphone,” emphasizing the man’s loud gratitude. His healing wasn’t just physical—it awakened a heart of worship. As Psalm 119:91 declares, “Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve You.”
God Is Always in Control
In a world of uncertainty, believers can rest in the truth that God is sovereign. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, “We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.” Whether in healing or hardship, God’s hand is never absent. Jeremiah 10:23 affirms, “We are not able to plan our own course.” The leper’s story is a reminder that even when we don’t understand the path, we can trust the One who directs it.
Even the Bad Serves His Purpose
What about suffering? Scripture assures us that even in pain, God is working. Romans 8:28 promises, “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him.” The psalmist echoes this in Psalm 119:91: “Everything serves [His] plans.” Whether it’s a miraculous healing or a season of waiting, nothing escapes His purpose.
A Prayer for Our Community
Lord, we thank You for Your sovereignty. Help us to trust You not only in the victories but in the valleys. May we be like the one who returned—loud in our praise, humble in our gratitude. Teach us to see Your hand in every circumstance and to rest in Your perfect plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
