The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is hosting a comprehensive, four-day statewide exercise designed to prepare emergency responders, even as forecasts predict a slightly below-average storm season. While the outlook may seem less severe, officials are committed to readiness, reflecting Proverbs 27:12: “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.”
Simulating the Storm: A Test of Readiness
The exercise places agencies in a high-pressure scenario—a powerful Category 4 or 5 hurricane expected to make landfall within 36 hours. This realistic simulation runs around the clock, mirroring the unpredictable nature of real storms.
