A Life Dedicated to Serving Others
For nearly 30 years, Tequila Alexander has been a familiar face in the Carencro community, known not only for her work as a hairstylist but for the compassion, encouragement, and kindness she shares with everyone she meets.
To those who know her, Alexander is much more than a business owner. She is a mentor, a supporter, a prayer warrior, and someone who genuinely believes in helping others discover their worth and purpose. Her heart for people and her commitment to serving her community have made a lasting impact on countless lives throughout Lafayette Parish.
Recently, Alexander was honored with a nomination for the Heart and Hustle Community Award, a recognition that reflects the dedication, love, and service she pours into the lives of others each day. Those closest to her say the nomination comes as no surprise. Whether she is encouraging a young girl to believe in herself, volunteering her time, or simply offering a listening ear, Alexander consistently puts others before herself.
“God places each of us here for a purpose,” Alexander shared. “I believe we are called to love people, encourage them, and help them see the value God has placed inside them.”
A Calling Rooted in Faith
Alexander’s desire to help others led her to create Resilient Rubies on the Rise, a mentorship and financial literacy program designed to encourage young girls and help prepare them for their future.
But for Alexander, the program is about far more than lessons and workshops. It is about relationships. It is about helping young women understand that they are loved, valued, and capable of achieving the dreams God has placed in their hearts.
Inspired by Proverbs 31:10, which says, “A virtuous woman is worth far more than rubies,” Alexander wants every girl who enters the program to recognize her God-given worth and walk confidently in her purpose.
Through mentorship, encouragement, prayer, and practical life skills, she is helping young women develop confidence, resilience, and hope for the future.
Investing in the Next Generation
Alexander believes that every young person deserves someone who believes in them. Through Resilient Rubies, she works to create an environment where girls feel seen, heard, and supported.
She teaches the importance of responsibility, leadership, financial stewardship, and strong character while encouraging participants to dream big and trust God with their future. Her goal is to help prepare young women not only for careers and success but for lives filled with purpose, faith, and service to others.
Proverbs 22:6 reminds believers to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Alexander embraces that calling wholeheartedly, investing her time and energy into helping shape future leaders who will one day impact their own communities.
A Community Stronger Together
One of the most beautiful aspects of Alexander’s work is the way it brings people together. Families, mentors, community leaders, and volunteers unite around a common mission: supporting and uplifting the next generation.
Her passion for service has inspired others to get involved, creating a network of encouragement that extends far beyond the walls of any classroom or meeting space.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 teaches that “two are better than one” because they can help each other succeed. That spirit of unity and compassion can be seen throughout Alexander’s efforts as she continues building meaningful connections throughout the community.
Leaving a Legacy of Love and Hope
While awards and recognition are appreciated, those who know Alexander say her greatest achievement is the impact she has made on the lives of others.
She leads with humility, serves with compassion, and remains committed to helping others recognize the gifts God has placed within them. Her work through Resilient Rubies reflects a deep love for people and a desire to leave the community stronger than she found it.
As she continues answering God’s call, Alexander is planting seeds of faith, confidence, and hope that will continue growing for years to come.
Galatians 6:9 encourages believers, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Through her servant’s heart and unwavering dedication to others, Tequila Alexander is living out that scripture and reminding her community that one person’s kindness can help change countless lives.
