LAFAYETTE, La. — Community Partners Provide Support Before the Next Emergency

As hurricane season approaches and communities across Acadiana prepare for the possibility of severe weather, local volunteer firefighters are receiving critical support to help them respond when their neighbors need them most. A recent donation of more than 2,500 cans of emergency drinking water is providing valuable resources to the St. Landry Parish Emergency Preparedness Team through the Church Point Volunteer Fire Department.

The donation from Anheuser-Busch, Schilling Distributing, and the National Volunteer Fire Council comes at a meaningful time following recent flooding that impacted parts of St. Landry Parish. Church Point firefighters chose to share the emergency water supply with neighboring communities that experienced the greatest needs while also ensuring first responders have essential supplies available during future emergencies.

Each year, breweries in Cartersville, Georgia, and Fort Collins, Colorado, temporarily pause normal production to can emergency drinking water for disaster relief efforts.

While water may seem like a simple resource, during emergencies it becomes one of the most important supplies available. Clean drinking water supports displaced families, emergency workers, and first responders working long hours in challenging conditions.
